A Deeper Self-Assessment
If the 7 Simple Questions helped you notice that something didn’t feel right, the Deeper Self-Assessment helps you look more closely.
The 7 Questions were a starting point. This assessment goes further by helping you look at what has been happening, what keeps repeating, and what you may not have connected before.
The questions explore four areas:
- Relationship Patterns — the repeated ways closeness, conflict, distance, and connection may have unfolded.
- Manipulation Tactics — things such as blame, contradictions, comparisons, guilt, pressure, or mixed messages that may have left you confused.
- Sense of Self — changes in your confidence, self-trust, and how you began to see yourself.
- Control & Power — ways the balance in the relationship may have shifted and your choices, voice, or independence may have gradually become smaller.
Looking at these areas together can help you recognize how the arguments, contradictions, changes in your confidence, and other things that seemed unrelated may actually have been part of the same pattern.
From Awareness to Understanding
The 7 Simple Questions offered a place to pause and notice what didn’t feel quite right.
The Deeper Self-Assessment builds on that first awareness by helping you look beyond individual incidents and begin noticing what may connect them.
As you work through them, you may begin to recognize:
- things that seemed separate but were actually part of a repeated pattern;
- moments you questioned or dismissed because they were difficult to explain;
- how the same kinds of experiences kept happening, even when the details changed.
When you can see the broader pattern, some of the confusion can begin to make more sense.
Understanding the patterns can help explain why they were so difficult to recognize while you were in the middle of them.

Relationship Patterns
Repeated cycles of closeness, conflict, distance, hope, and disappointment that may have started to feel familiar over time.

Manipulation Tactics
Blame, contradictions, comparisons, guilt, pressure, and mixed messages that may have left you confused or questioning what was happening.

Sense of Self
Changes in your confidence, self-trust, choices, and the way you began to see yourself.

Control & Power
Ways the balance in the relationship may have shifted, including pressure, intimidation, restrictions, or having less say in decisions that affected you.
This isn't about putting a label on someone.
It’s about looking at what happened, what kept happening, and how those experiences affected you.
When experiences that once seemed separate begin to form a pattern, things that were difficult to explain can start to make more sense.
Take your time. There are no right or wrong answers. What matters is what you begin to notice for yourself.
When you’re ready, this deeper self-assessment will help you see the patterns clearly and begin the quiet work of unhooking.
